“If I grew upa rich boy/like this boy/this white boy/like you boy/the Christmas toys/the privileged joys. I think I’ll be less stressed/The whole family at home, the ideal address.”– Nas on “Colors”

First..a word from DJ Khalil himeslf:

Here is a song we recorded over a year ago in LA at HOB Studios. This was a dream come true for me, to record a song with one of the most prolific artists in all of music. Busta Rhymes told me that he is our crown jewel, and I would have to agree. It’s an honor to work with some of the pioneers and true greats in hiphop and to live out my dreams. Although the song didn’t make the final cut, I had a chance to produce Nas and collaborate with him in the studio. I coached him thru some of his vocals and we conceptualized the song. A truly incredible experience. This song is featuring Danny Keys on the hook.

Now, hmmm, what we have here is a failure to diseminate CLASSIC material to the ears in DIER need of it. Apparently this is from an unreleased song entitled “Colors” that was recorded during the Untitled sessions. I dont know what held up this song from being released. Sample clearances? PUT IT ON THE NIGGER MIXTAPE. Didnt fit on the album? Would sound PERFECT in between “N.I.G.G.E.R.” and “Untitled”(or just scrap “Untitled” for this song.) Whatever was the case, Nas needs to pocket this song and put it on the next album(after Distant Relatives) sounds too classic to be a throwaway song.

*Back to trying to record this verse right*

  1. text book epic/perspective nas 🙂 would kill for the full song! definitely should have been on the album. I think it would have been good where you placed it too.
